Veeam PN not detecting static IP address
Hi Guys,
I've currently looking into the VeeamPN. Unfortunately I'm seeing the following error when trying to replicate the VM:
15/06/2017 11:37:18 :: No static IP addresses detected for VeeamHUB, please specify default gateway settings manually
Now I've researched this and can see the normal method is to manually add the 'Default Gateway'. However it's on the same network as my existing test network and there is no 'Add' function? I've ticked the option to 'Route traffic between these networks'
This is causing issues I believe with my failover plan due to the fact no 'Static Address' is being picked up. It's not allowing me to choose the IP in the list. I have tried manually typing in the IP address. However the NAT rules don't look to be working externally... Should typing the IP address work? Or is the 'Static address detection' warning causing the issues with the failover plan and NAT rules?
Thanks
Matt

Re: Linux/Unix VM not detecting static IP address
So it's just re-occurred to me that due to the static IP error, the IP address has to be manually entered on the replication target side...
Surely there is a way to resolve the initial error??

Re: Linux/Unix VM not detecting static IP address
Here is a thread regarding this issue you can review. Currently the only lack of functionality I'm seeing is if there are two local networks Veeam doesn't seem to be able to identify which NEA to spin up on the tenant side to facilitate L2 connectivity during a partial site failover.

With regards to your question about failover plans, I've had success in the past manually typing an IP address in for the NEA rules. Do other rules seem to work that have IP's that are able to be recognized by Veeam? During the failover are you able to log in to the Linux VM and ping the gateway? Internet? You can also review the logs of the NEA to determine what rules have been applied and see if there are any issues there.
Cheers,
Brad

Re: Linux/Unix VM not detecting static IP address
Hi Brad,
Yes this is working now. I was just being impatient with the boot time of the VPN device.
I'm experiencing issues with the VPN connection, however I'm assuming this is to be logged separately with OpenVPN
Thanks
Matt

Hi Brad,
I've just the VeeamPN installed and working, however the OpenVPN won't connect...
Seeing the following error - AUTH: Received control message: AUTH_FAILED,Unknown client id trying to connect
Not sure if this is anything you can assist with?
Thanks
Matt

Re: Linux/Unix VM not detecting static IP address
Hmm haven't seen that before myself, but I'd check the VPN configuration on both sides.
Good luck troubleshooting and post back with the resolution!
Cheers,
Brad

Re: Linux/Unix VM not detecting static IP address
This was due to the PC Name not being correct in the 'Standalone Computer' config file. It had to match the client where the VPN was being initiated from..

Re: Veeam PN not detecting static IP address
You can use dedicated IP address with any other vpn like Ivacy. I'm using it for more then a year and being working very good. No real-time issues.
