VeeamPN installed on Ubuntu missing iptables collectd Graphs

Post by jlemb » Aug 19, 2019 8:58 pm

Hi

I've been playing around with VeeamPN, I installed it on Ubuntu 18.04 using the following docs: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/veeam ... tml?ver=20

No graphs in the Overview or Performance tabs are working, and I see a lot of exceptions in the log file for veeampn.

I think the config files needed for collectd are missing, the output from the configs are almost empty:

Code: Select all

cat /etc/collectd/collectd.conf.d/iptables.conf
LoadPlugin iptables
<Plugin iptables>
</Plugin>

Code: Select all

Is this a known issue with not using the appliance version?

Dear Jo Le,

No, this is not known issue.
I just repeated the same sequence as in the guide on the recent Ubuntu Server 18.04.3 LTS - it works as supposed to.

Could you please make sure you have the collectd library module for iptables installed correctly by running "ls -al /usr/lib/collectd/iptables.so"
And if it exists please try to restart the collectd service running "sudo systemctl restart collectd"

Thank you,
Alexey

Sorry for the late reply.

Here is the output from "ls -al /usr/lib/collectd/iptables.so":

Code: Select all

 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 14560 Mar 26 16:18 /usr/lib/collectd/iptables.so
Restarting collectd makes no difference and it is running fine:

Code: Select all

Sep 04 18:47:17 veeampn collectd[25436]: read-function of plugin `iptables' failed. Will suspend it for 40.000 seconds.
Since it is working for you, could you maybe share the contents of: /etc/collectd/collectd.conf.d/iptables.conf
As I mentioned earlier, there is basically no config for iptables in that file other than loading the plugin.

Hi Jo Le,

Can you share the application logs please?
It can be downloaded from the Support Info page, or get manually from /var/log/Veeam/veeampn/ directory.

Best regards,
Anton

I gave up troubleshooting and deployed a new Ubuntu VM, this one does not have the graph issue.
Unfortunately I am not sure what cased the issue, but I can't reproduce it any more...
