vmware on azure

Post by mcz » Feb 13, 2019 4:14 pm

Hi everybody,

more than a year passed since we heard the news about vmware on azure, have a look at https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/ ... -on-azure/

At the moment it doesn't look like that there's much going on and I've already read some articles about it saying that it won't happen (at least not too soon). Has anybody more information about it, does anybody know if it will ever happen?

For me it would be very exciting to be able to scale up vmware infrastructure by using the azure cloud. You could then do replication and would be able to use azure as DR site in case your on-prem environment goes down. Sure you can say that there is already an offer by AWS (vmware on AWS), but the pricing is only interesting for big enterprises and not for SMB's.

Thanks for your response!

From the looks of it VMware has a primary focus on AWS and improving the tech first. Maybe once this works, they may create the same for Azure.
