We have a couple RHEL repos with a few hundred TB (2 sites, 2 primary backup repos for each site with 2 HPE Apollo servers as extent + offloading to Wasabi, 2 x copy repos, each with one Apollo). We want to move to the VHR appliance, ideally without wiping existing backup data which are stored on extra RAID volumes / filesystems.
I read in an older post that this is not possible out of the box. In my naive view, this is valid use case and other workarounds are not always possible without compromising backup data.
So, is this something support will help? Or is there already a KB that explains the steps needed, like change permissions, ownership, mountpoint etc and most important... installer should not touch existing volume/data?
What other options do we have that will keep xfs reflink/blockcloning savings? I'd start with replacing the 2 copy repos with VHR'S as this will not impact primary jobs. All repos currently are also used as Veeam proxy with IBM storage snapshot integration - I think remaining 4 backup repos would be sufficient in case this is an issue with VHR.
