[Feature Request] - Backup Validator improvements

Post by DatatoSecure »

Good day,

In order to reduce the stress on junior Veeam operators, please don’t return with “The following files are corrupted:” when it is trying to validate encrypted files.

Perhaps the Backup Validator should simply first use the command extract.exe –getEncryptionStatus before trying to validate a file.

Also, there should be snap-in in the VBR console with a visual Backup Validator function, where one could validate an entire folder, even schedule it.
I know one can write a PowerShell scripts to do just that.

Hi François

You can create and schedule a SureBackup Job Lite inside the backup console. This will allow you to schedule or manually start backup file validation for one or more VMs. Encrypted backups are also supported. It is basically the same as running <Veeam Backup Validator>.

If we added “SureBackup” as a selectable restore option to our custom RBAC role, would that be an acceptable solution instead of using the old Backup Validator?
