hey veeam community & team,
i have a problem with one of my VMs. if i want to backup it, i get always the following error:
Code: Select all
creating vm snapshot
error: maybe the VM is defect or veeam doesnt support the format
the vmdk is local based on the server and it's an ubuntu linux 64bit. if i turn it on --> the VM is working withouth problems after then if i want to backup it and vmware want to make a snapshot --> the vm will shutdown and i'll get the msg above here.
i hope you can help me.. would be very nice
best regards

Hi Raphael,
Are you able to snapshot this VM manually via vSphere Client?
Thanks!

hey vitaliy,
i'm getting the same error.
#1 start snapshot
#2 VM is shutting down
#3 vsphere is telling me, that it couldn't create a snapshot in the off state
some more details.. both VM's (veeam and the vm with the error) are on the same host vsphere 5.0
veeam vm-version: 8
the other vm: 7
best regards

In this case it's better to ask assistance form VMware community forums/technical support as further VM debug logs investigation is required. Once you're able to create the snapshot of this VM manually, Veeam B&R will also be able to backup this VM.
