Hello,
I was reviewing the following discussion:
Feature Request: Preserve Backup Chain After Nutanix DR Cross-Cluster Migration
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=103373&start=0Skipped
Based on the discussion, my understanding is that backup chain preservation is currently not supported for Nutanix cross-cluster failover/migration scenarios, and this is considered a known gap that may be addressed in a future release.
I also found the following statement from the release notes:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/rn/veeam_b ... notes.html
"cross-cluster migration will result in loss of protection for a given VM"
and
"If included in the protected category, a new backup chain will be created."
Therefore, I believe that preserving the existing backup chain is currently not supported for Cross Cluster Live Migration (CCLM).
However, I am not sure whether the same limitation applies to AsyncDR.
Could you please clarify whether AsyncDR is also expected to create a new backup chain, or if an existing backup chain can be continued after an AsyncDR migration/failover?
Also, is there any behavioral difference between V12.3 and V13 regarding this scenario?
Best Regards,
Rin

Re: Backup chain continuity after AsyncDR migration between Nutanix clusters
We identify VM by VM-UUID + Cluster-UUID. That means any migration to another cluster will create a new chain (machine is new for our software)
