Where to install WAN accelerator

Post by timstumbo »

I setup a secondary server to act as the proxy for the backup server. We're about to start pushing backup copies to the cloud utilizing the WAN accelerator. I'm trying to figure out where I should install it, on the primary backup server or the secondary server where the proxy is installed.

Would it make a difference either way?

Thanks

Well, if your concern is network traffic and you're doing Backup Copy, you'd want the WAN Accelerator to have as fast and direct a connection to the repository as possible. If your concern is resource usage, well, look at the system requirements, look at your existing resource usage, and make the best call you can. Also, if there's any difference in disk speed between the two possible locations, choose the server with the faster disk.
