We have been using VSPC for some time now to monitor, manage, and install patches for our Veeam customers.
Some of our customers use VBR with the following configuration:
Daily backup of the domain controller (DC)
Daily backup of the application server (AS)
Weekly backup of not important servers
Our goal was to define an exclusion in the "VM without backup" rule that filters out VMs based on the term Weekly, and then create a second rule without any exclusion but with a longer RPO (e.g., 8 days).
After consulting with support, we learned that the exclusion only applies to the VM name, not the backup job name. As a result, we now have to create two rules per customer. With 38 customers, this results in a total of 72 rules.
To make matters more complex, the VMs across our customer environments have different and inconsistent naming conventions, which makes it impractical to rely on VM names alone for exclusions.
Feature Request
We would like to request the ability to apply exclusions based on backup job names.
For example, if a backup job name contains the term Weekly, the rule should not apply.
This would significantly reduce the administrative overhead required to maintain these rules.
Best regards
Fabian

Re: [Feature Request] - Additional exclusionmask for Backupnames instead only VM-Name
Hello Fabian,
You are using Veeam ONE as long VSPC as well right?
This is a great idea, and we have added it as FR for future releases. Thank you so much for your feedback.

@konstantin.k Is this something we can take into account for the future in VSPC?
Thank you!

Re: [Feature Request] - Additional exclusionmask for Backupnames instead only VM-Name
Hello Fabian,
Thanks for the detailed feature request!
You are correct, the exclusion mask is applied to VM names, not backup job names. As discussed with the team, extending this functionality to job names should not be difficult, so I’ve added it to our list of feature requests for one of the next versions.
Thanks,
Konstantin
