Will Veeam 12 support vSphere 9.1 ?

Post by pmichelli »

Good morning

Will V12 support the newly released vSphere 9.1 (ESXi / vCenter) as part of the VVF/VCF bundles or will this be only available in V13?

Thanks

I am not from Veeam, but since V12 is officially "End of Fix" and will only get security updates until EOL, I would assume that only V13 will get support for new vSphere versions.

Hi pmichelli,

v12 is already in the “End of Fix” stage, which means it won’t receive new functionality or additional OS/version support.

We tested the release in our labs and had to change code to make v9.1 work with Veeam Backup & Replication. Therefore, support is expected with Veeam Backup & Replication v13.1, and — with some luck — also in v13.0.2. Since v12 is in “End of Fix", these code changes won’t be back ported to the latest v12 build.

Please also keep in mind that v12 will be end of support in February 2027:

Thank you, Fabian.
V13 is on the ever growing to-do list. Looks like I need to get that done sooner than later.

Hello,

Just a short update: we plan to support vSphere 9.1 (ESXi and vCenter) starting with the upcoming version 13.1.
Veeam Backup & Replication v13.0.2 will not support it.

Rough estimate, when will 13.1 be released?

Hi all

Support for vSphere 9.1 (ESXi, vCenter) is now available with the newly released Veeam Backup & Replication V13.1 (What’s New V13.1).

Hi,
after updating all components (VBR and EM) to 13.1 we still have the issue that there is a warning in the vCenter Tab of the Enterprise Manager showing "Version too high". We are not able to connect vCenters on the latest VCF 9.1 patchlevel 9.1.0.0200.

Support says:
It looks like a unsupported VMware vSphere / vCenter version being used. The unsupported vCenter version is not detected with a valid version or build, which causes Enterprise Manager to fail while parsing the vCenter version for the vCenter Servers view.

Thank you for providing the case number via private message.

Since the case was opened with v13.0, where vCenter 9.1 was not supported, we need to investigate why you can still see the “Version too high” error message after upgrading to v13.1.

For that, please open a new case. It could be related to a newly found issue in v13.1 GA that is planned to be resolved in one of the next patches. Our Support team will check the logs to investigate and confirm the issue.

Thank you,
Fabian
