With our 3Par array,
Currently running a scheduled 'virtual copy' (snapshot) to occur 4 times a day (6am, 10am, 2pm, & 6pm) with an expiry of 1 day for each of our volumes.
All works very well. Restore from snapshot is a great feature.
I'm very new to 3par so my question is:-
-Any real world: recommendations, risks, caveats, etc with 3Par Virtual copies
-Does anyone run the snapshots more frequently
-Would it be an idea to include the scheduling functionality into Veeam itself as a feature request?
Many thanks.

Re: 3Par Snapshots
I would suggest to utilize backups from storage snapshots as well, to have a copy of your data on a separate media for safety reasons.crazycommando wrote:-Any real world: recommendations, risks, caveats, etc with 3Par Virtual copies
Currently this can be done for NetApp storages only. But thank you for the feedback.crazycommando wrote:-Would it be an idea to include the scheduling functionality into Veeam itself as a feature request?

Re: 3Par Snapshots
I can tell you for sure, we have some customers running snapshots in 3PAR arrays every 30 minutes, this is the shortest schedule I've personally seen. But in any environment you need to evaluate also the performances of the storage compared to the delta changes happening in that timeframe, not to risk to overload the system.
