7 day retention but 57 restore points???

Post by SmokinJoe »

if we change our mid to do :

Incremental
Incremental with synthetic periodically
active full backup periodically

Do we have to delete all our disk backups so veeam can prune the old VIB and VBK files?
Do we delete those old files from the GUI or drop to the OS to delete them?

Support case : 05105702

Thanks,
Joe

You don't have to. If you keep them, Veeam will delete them automatically according to your new retention policy.

But you can always delete backups yourself either from the GUI or from the OS. The result will be the same, they will be gone :)
Deleting from the GUI is cleaner because it will also immediately remove the corresponding restore point records from the configuration.
