Access and Firewall Requirements

Post by txd333 »

Hello,

I'm trying to sort out requirements to do both backup and replication for an environment, but I'm still a bit stuck after looking at the requirements guides.

We're looking to do:

Direct SAN backup
Replication as a separate process

Our environment is a clustered SAN solution controlled by vCenter.

My questions are:

- Does this scenario require root login to the ESXi hosts for either backup and recovery, or is all the permission handled by vCenter?

- What network access is needed to the ESXi hosts by which components?

We're operating in a secure environment, and we need to be as specific as possible with our permissions and firewall rules, so I need to avoid granting anything that's not necessary.

Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the community!

All you need to do is to add vCenter in Veeam B&R console, no need to provide root credentials for each host.
- What network access is needed to the ESXi hosts by which components?
Have you seen this guide already?

Then you should definitely take a look at this whitepaper.

Thanks
