Additional Guest VM backup settings that impacts VM snapshot

Post by albertwt »

Hi All,

I’ve concerns that if I enable the below Veeam backup feature it will cause the VMware snapshot backup process longer:
Perform backup files health check
VM Guest OS File Indexing
I don’t mind the backup window will run longer after enabling those two features as above, but I just wanted to know the impact with the VMware snapshot.

Does the above process is done after the VMware snapshot is closed or when the VMware snapshot is still open?

Thanks.

Perform backup files health check is done outside of the backup process so no impact.

The VM Guest OS File Indexing is done during the backup however this only adds a very low amount of time of processing per VM. We only advise this if you are using the Enterprise manager on a regular base.
