Additional Yearly Backup Retention Queston

I've had to create an additional jobs for a set of servers since I need more than one yearly backup (taken 6 months apart).

If I want to ensure a backup is retained for 1 year, would it be recommended to set the retention policy for 364 days? or 365 days?

I’m asking because I don’t want to be in the situation where the second year comes around, the backup runs, and it finishes just slightly quicker than the prior year and prevents the consolidation from happening resulting in 2 restore points.

For example, Job runs at 8PM January 1st, 2025. Finishes at 8:30PM.
Nex year, job runs at 8PM January 1st, 2026, Finishes at 8:29PM. Since the prior backup has only been there for 364 days, 23 hours and 59 minutes, I’ll be left with an additional restore point. Right?

Apparently, I should just keep it at 365 since by default Veeam keeps a minimum of 3 points.

If you are considering long-term retention, wouldn't it be simpler to use yearly GFS (Grandfather-Father-Son) restore points?

Right, but my requirement is that need two of the "grandfather" (yearly) backups. GGFS, and we can only specify to keep one. I've thought of maybe scheduling an export using PS, but that proved a little more involved that I want to do/maintain.

I would make a backup copy job that runs once every 6 months set to keep 3 restore points.
