any issues to share storage to multiple Veeam-windows servers ?

Post by nadsas »

Hi everyone
As i Have to upgrade Veeam 9.5 to a new Server and Veeam11 I have a question.
I still want to have the possability to restore old Backups in 9.5 für any weeks.
But i need to use then Veeam 11 on the new server to do the new Backups.
As I only have one Storage as repository, its possible to assign the storage to both veeam Windows Servers without issues ?

many thanks

No, it's not possible due to different repository component versions. However, V11 can restore backups created by any previous version, so you don't need to do anything special. Thanks!

thanks for your reply Gostev,
yes, its clear for me. My questioin ist just, would the datas be corrupted or not, if i use the same storage for multiple windows servers who has access to it.
as i have to initialize the discs on the new server too.

Officially this is not supported or tested, so the results are unpredictable.

What's your definition of using the same storage for multiple servers? Do you have a central storage and plan to publish a LUN/volume to multiple servers? If so, this will certainly cause problems as you're not using a cluster filesystem. You would end up with locking problems and corruptions.
