appassure to veeam migration

Post by meetoo »

Current Appassure 5.4.3 user. Vmware 5.5 environment

I have had 2 years of extreme pain with Appassure & am investigating Veeam.

Is there any way to migrate our Appassure repository over to a Veeam environment or would we have to start over with new backups on Veeam & just keep the appassure environment online for a year until the recovery points roll off? i was hoping to use the same hardware.

Thx!

You will have to start over with new Veeam B&R backups, since they have a different format. On reaching the required retention with Veeam B&R, you will be able to get rid of the old Appassure backups.

Thx
One more....Appassure randomly creates new 'base' (full) backups without my permission, which then have to be replicated to the offsite target. Does Veeam do that or does the admin have full control over when a full backup is created?

With Veeam B&R, full backups are created only when you configure them to be created. ;)
