Are ESXi hosts needed to restart after installing IO filter?
Hello,
I have planed that VMs moves to new ESXi by CDP Replication.
Although I read a manual, I don't understand that it is necessary to restart ESXi hosts after installing IO filter in it or not.
Do I need to restart ESXi hosts after doing that?

i had the same warning that one host needed the I/O filter.
On the install, the message box says that the Host will not be affected or restart. I didn't proceed though. But i believe the message box.

No restart needed, but depending on the filter situation, the hosts are put one by one in maintenance mode. See: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110

Yeah, in many cases "maintenance mode" is like a restart if DRS is off, so it is good to know.

Thank you for your reply.
That link above is about upgrading and uninstalling IO filter, so I would like to confirm it again.
Is it correct that all hosts don't need to be restarted or be placed in the maintenance mode when I install IO filter?

Hello,
for installation: no action needed. No reboot. No maintenance mode
for upgrade: maintenance mode is required
If you see something else, please open a support case and post the case number. That's unexpected behavior then.
Best regards,
Hannes
