Tried to migrate VMs with B&R from a 6.7 to a 7.0U3 server. VMs that had no snapshots during the backup process got restored to the new server without problem. However any VM that had a snapshot when it got backed up fails to restore correctly.
The restore process in B&R says "Restore completed successfully". However the Hard disk restore log is already suspicious (completed too fast and much less data is restored). It only restores the data after the snapshot was created. The full backup should take ~182GB:
If I try to start the VM after the restore it fails to boot with boot device not found.
The VM had a single snapshot. Another vm with multiple snapshots also failed to restore.
That does seems strange and abnormal, as snapshots should not cause any trouble for us to backup a VM and restore disks afterwards.

On a side note, try running a File Level Restore from that backup too - missing gigs of data from each disk should be easy to spot. That will shortlist if problem was with backup part or with restore part.
That happens within free tier, as cases there are picked on best-effort basis. You can always try again later.
As for your problem, it is worth giving a shot for Active Full and see if restore point is valid in this case - that will show if problem was with that chain you had before or its related to retrieved backup content in general.
Just out of curiosity: why don't schedule backups jobs to run when VMs do not have any snapshots? One more idea might be to back up VMs in Network mode and to check whether the issue persists or not.
