[Veeam Case ID 03283378]
Hi,
I have a customer that I have taken on that is having an ongoing issues
with their backup.
They are running B&R v9.5.0.1038
The issue is when backup up one of the virtual machines they get an error
trying to read the vdmk file.
(changed the server and file name for security)
2018-11-11 10:02:05 PM :: Saving [SSD] SERVERNAME.hiddendomain.local/[SSD]
SERVERNAME.hiddendomain.local
The file should be called SERVERNAME.hiddendomain.local.vmdk
The .local in the filename/server name that was created in VMware is not
allowing Veeam to see vmdk file name correctly, and is reading is as
local.
Is there a workaround?
TIA!

Re: B&R v9.5 - VMDK file not being found
Can you storage vmotion the VM to antoher datastore and then back. I guess this should correct entries on VMware side if they are not correct. Beside this you have an open support case and the support team can have a look at the logs and see if something is not working on our side.

Re: B&R v9.5 - VMDK file not being found
Hi,
The names are correct in VMware, it’s the veeam software that isn’t seeing it correctly. I think vmotion only renames the folder, not the file names. To rename the files it’s done in ssh.
Is this an issue anyone else has run into? I can’t be the only one with a . In the vm name.
Thanks!

Re: B&R v9.5 - VMDK file not being found
There are several limitations documented on the VMware side for folder names and VM file names. As Veeam do not use https.folder for file operation we do not have the same limitations. So let´s wait what support will find out.
