Hi,
I wonder if anyone here can share some experiences or the best practice in backing up the Linux VM or physical host that host the XFS Immutable backup repository?

Re: Backing up the Immutable Linux Backup Repo VM?
Hi,
It is not recommended to run LHBR as a VM simply because a attacker can get access to the underlying hypervisor and just delete the whole VM.
If you use physical server to run LHBR I would recommend to follow the 3-2-1 rule and with that have multiple copies of the backup.
Following that means that a backup of the server itself should not be needed as if you loose it you still got other places the copy is stored.
Thanks

Yes, I agree with @rennerstefan suggestion, when you are using a physical server to do the Immutable backup repository, this will be another separate system that is containing your backup data.

Re: Backing up the Immutable Linux Backup Repo VM?
Hi,
I agree with what has already been said. The proper procedure if it is lost should be a rebuild of the repository from scratch. And for the data itself, backups replication.
