Backup App Cluster

Post by adam900331 »

Hy!

Is the best practise to backup app cluster members with Veeam Agent? I configured a protection group and added the cluster object name. Can I achive this another way for example, added manually the cluster members without cluster name?

Thanks.

RAC clusters can be backed up with our Veeam Plug-in for Oracle RMAN, which is basically a Oracle SBT plug-in.

v12 has as well the option to rollout the plug-in and manage the backup in a central job.

The installation itself can be protected with image level backup of the VM backup or Veeam Agent based backup.

Yes, we use RMAN plugin, but only want to create image-level backup for cluster members (two server). Can I added the member servers separetally to the protection group? Or added the cluster object?

Protection Group => Only installation of the plug-ins and Agents.

If you use v12 already and use the protection group for distributing the plug-in, then you can just enable the Agent checkbox and it will install the agents.

If you do not have used protection groups yet, please add the server separately to a protection group (maybe new one) and in case of v12 only install the Agent (not the plug-in) for now.
Then create a managed agent backup job to do image level backups. I would deactivate the inguest processing for Oracle then or at least set it to "copy only" without Archive Log backups as you do this with the plug-ins.
