Well, first of all, I'd recommend checking that a new .vbk has been created during the last job run (after the retention setting change) to confirm the retention should have been applied. Once done, please ensure that all of the restore points of this VM are healthy and have the "OK" status. Retention only applies to the restore points that have completed successfully, i.e. you may now have 1 full, 14 increments and 5 incomplete increments - please make sure this is not the case.
