Recently a customer wanted to implement a system for daily rotating external drives for their backups to decrease their RPO. I've configured a copy job for daily backups to the external rotating media. The issue is that due to the amount of data and timing of the backups one of the critical jobs does not complete by the end of the backup window.
The backup windows is from 12 (midday) until to 8 (in the morning) however the actual backup jobs run at various hours of the evening so from 12 (midday) until the daily backup job finishes the freshly replaced disk is sitting idle until the daily backup job triggers the backup copy job for the disk.
Is there any method to trigger the detection of new media (i.e. rotation) and make B&R copy over the existing full backup job (forever forward incremental) and deltas, so by the time the daily backups jobs finishes it already has what it need to proceed?

Re: Backup copy - trigger to copy existing backups as opposed to new ones
Do you mean the copy job is chained to the source backup job using the 'After this job' option? Or is the issue in the backup copy not looking back to the existing restore point and rather waiting for the new one to appear? In the latter case, it would mean that it already did copy the available backups within the specified copy interval.

The latter. That's the thing - it doesn't copy! I even ran it manually - just copies the config file...

Check the copy interval setting. If you feel there are existing backups that were not copied yet and the new interval doesn't pick them up, please contact our technical support for a closer look.
