Backup Design

Post by paarth164 »

After Update 4, is it possible to have below scenario?

Backup Server 1 - Perpetual License
Backup Server 2 - Perpetual License

Now, Backup Server 1 has Storage A and Backup server 2 has Storage B. Can I create backup repository on server 1 from storage B and point backup copy jobs to it? and can i add server 2 as backup proxy on server 1?

Thanks in advance guys.

Hello,

Update 4 does not change any of the licensing rules, if you're using Veeam B&R to back up a virtual infrastructure. It seems like you are asking if this possible to share Veeam backup components between different server. If that's the case, then all statements in this topic remain true.

Out of curiosity, why do you use two backup servers?

Thank you!

We have two different locations and different people managing those servers.

So is it possible to have this scenario?

Yes, sharing backup repositories between two different servers is possible, but these backup servers must be at the same patch level and also keep in mind the fact about tasks sharing for the repositories (described in the referenced topic). Thanks!
