Backup from storage snapshot with snapshot retention

Post by Serger »

Hello everyone!

We have VMware VMs with its disks on 3Par array. For its backup we are going to use array snapshots and store it on Storeonce.
But, for more efficient reason for some VMs we want to keep array snapshots about 3-5 days but copy backups on Storeonce daily.

Is it OK to use method "backup from storage snapshot with snapshot retention"? Or its only used if we have two 3Par arrays in Peer Persistence?

Or we have to do Snapshot-only job in parallele with Backup copy or Backup from storage snapshot only?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, it's OK to use this method. Having two 3PAR arrays in Peer Persistence is not required, in fact support for 3PAR Peer Persistence was added to the product much later than the feature in question :D thanks!

To do that, just add HPE 3PAR Snapshot as the secondary destination - and you will be able to configure the storage snapshot retention there. Thanks!
