I have an all-in-one Veeam physical setup and backups are running fine. My Esxi hosts run on iscsi, but the veeam server has a direct fiber link to my NetApp storage, and all Datastores are visible. However just noticed that there is significant RX traffic (823MB/s) on the 1GB management link of the veeam server during the veeam backup process from storage snapshots. Additonally, the Netapp shows high Iscsi Ops but NO Fc ops.
Can anyone suggest tips :
- to ensure that my jobs run on SAN mode
- limit traffic of backup from storage snapshots to the FC link

Re: Backup from storage snapshots - traffic on mgmt link?
Hi Feyijimi, please check the job stats window and select the particular VM to the left. You should see something like this in case backup is performed from storage snapshot:
Code: Select all

Hi Foggy, confirmed. Storage is being performed from storage snapshot. Is this why the traffic is not going throuth the direct SAN connection?

Any chance you've configured the iSCSI initiator on your Veeam server? I wonder if it's using iSCSI instead of FC if both are available.

Try to disable iSCSI initiator on the proxy and rescan it or just select FC in the storage properties.
