Hello, I need to do a backup job that allows me to have an initial full with 30 restoration points, after that, to repeat the backup cycle, keeping the full one unchanged until the retention policy is met.
Once the retention policy has been fulfilled, there must be no more than one full, or maximum 2, that is, the oldest full must be overwritten or deleted.
Example:
* day 1: full.
* day 2 to 29: incremental
* day 30: full and the previous full backups are deleted.
* day 31 to 59: incremental.
* day 60: full and the previous full backups are deleted.
This method is necessary, since, the backup files will be stored in a synchronized folder on google drive, so, with this I would avoid uploading full backups every Saturday with the synthetic method, and full backups every day with Forever Forward Incremental one Once the 30-day retention policy has been fulfilled. Since, each full backup has 200GB.
Best regard

Re: Backup full and incremental in a synchronized folder on google drive
- Create a backup job
- Set 2 restore points as retention policy
- Enable active full backup for it
- Set a monthly schedule for active full backup
This way, on day 31 the previous restore points as well as the oldest full backup will be removed and you will have fresh full backup plus one increment.
Thanks!

No, with these settings Veeam B&R will add an increment each day until the day after the next full is created - upon adding the first increment to the new full it will delete the entire backup chain relying on the first full backup (full + 29 or 30 increments depending on the month) and continue adding increments to the new part chain. Please review this article for better understanding.
