Backup LifeCycle - 02612426

Post by gshaikh »

Hi,
We currently have Veeam 9.5 update and we are using Data domain as primary backup target. Currently due to slow restore/SureBackup peformance, we are targetting to introduce another Windows based repository as primary target. Thus this is what we would need,
Backup to Windows Repo -> Copy to DD at Main site -> Copy to DD at DR site.
I have two issues while doing so -
1. As I have limited storage space for Windows repo, I just want to use it as stagging to hold the backup till it gets verified by SureBackup and gets copied to primary DD. Is there any way we can delete the backup files right after its work is done.
2. Looked into options and found that a backup copy cannot be a source of the copy job.

Please suggest if this is doable and what can be the options.

Regards,
Gulzar

1) No, unless you use custom scripts (this is not the recommended approach, though). You'd better set minimal applicable retention, say, 2 or something.
2) Actually, you can check Backup Copy from Backup Copy part.
