Re: backup oracle with VM s.o Linux
You do not need to enable the VMware tools quiescense as we use Veeam guest processing.
Anyway our Job does not detect that there is an Oracle instance running and so no Archive Logs or Oracle restore options are provided.
Can you please check if all Oracle configuation files are correctly pointing into the right Oracle Instance pathes. For example /etc/oratab
The Oracle instance need to run as well and you need to give a correct user that has the right oracle environment variables at the gues processing step (you can give special user at the Oracle configuration step if the Oracle user for example can not login with SSH).

Re: backup oracle with VM s.o Linux
Hello,
Support tell me this--> "To create consistent backups and replicas for VMs that do not support Microsoft VSS (for example, Linux VMs), enable VMware Tools quiescence in job settings. In this case, Veeam Backup & Replication uses the VMware Tools to freeze the file system and application data on a VM before backup or replication."
VMware Tools Quiescence - https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110

Our Oracle Guest processing do not use VMware Tools Quiescence.
You need to enable the Veeam Guest Processing (only).

Andreas, ok, then I don't understand email Veeam support.
I uncheck the Vmware tools Quiescence (the other steps the same).
Run Job, and same problem...
Thanks!

Re: backup oracle with VM s.o Linux
VMware Tools Quiescense checkbox is ignored anyway if you use Veeam Guest Processing.
It is not the root cause of your issue.
Based on the above, is that Veeam does not detect your Oracle installation. Wrong user used for processing, too less rights/environment not configured correctly, missconfiguration in the Oracle config files.
Please work with our support on it.
