Backup question

Post by ashman70 »

I think I have a pretty good grasp of the CBT issue and I will be upgrading to V8 shortly and resetting CBT on my customers one affected VM, however they also run backups of data from the affected VM using Backup Exec, would this data be at risk due to the CBT problem? Or does the CBT problem only affect the volume on the VM with respect to a Veeam backup or replicated VM? In other words, if the customer is backing up data from the volume of the VM that is affected by the CBT issue, could they restore that data and would it be good, if the VM could not be successfully restored by Veeam? I should clarify that the customer is not using a Vmware plugin for Backup Exec, they are simply using a remote agent on the VM that backs up the data as if it were a physical machine.

CBT issue affects VM backup, not the VM itself. So any data backed up from this VM without the use of CBT is not affected.
