Hello Danny,
Veeam Backup and Replication leverages capabilities of different types of jobs: Backup job, Backup Copy job, Backup to Tape etc. depending on the goal.
Backup job has 3 different methods for creating backup chains. Chaining helps to use less space on your repositories.
.vbk(stands for Veeam BacKup) is a full backup while .vib(stands for Veeam Incremental Backup) and .vrb(stands for Veeam Reversed incremental Backup) are incremental backups used for forward and reversed incremental chains correspondingly.
Our default backup method is Forever forward incremental backup one.
Please check provided links and ask additional questions if you have any. Thanks.
