Backup using different https port
Hello,
We have two standalone ESXi, one in 5.1 and one 6.7 on the same network. Veeam B&R is on an external network.
The 5.1 ESXi has been added to Backup Infrastructure using the 443 port and the 6.7 using the port 448 NATed to its 443 port.
The backup proxy is installed on the 5.1.
Backup of the 5.1's vm works fine. Problem is the Backup proxy tries to access to the 6.7 using the 448 port. Which is not correct in the internal network.
Is there any solution for this scenario ?
Thanks for your suggestion

Re: Backup using different https port
Hi, I think there is no way as we receive specific information with URL and Port from vCenter. So if we can not access by these information specific services on vcenter, we will fail.
You can NAT port 443 to 443.
You can NAT port 443 to 443.

Hi Andreas,
Thanks for your answer. The 443 is already NATed to the 443 of the Backup proxy.

Re: Backup using different https port
You can change/manipulate the Veeam ports, so maybe this is a way.

Or you can use Veeam PN to use it as a VPN tunnel instead of NAT. It is free.

Yeah that's what I tried, setting the HTTPS port to 448 when adding the Standalone host.Andreas Neufert wrote: ↑Mar 26, 2019 10:12 am You can change/manipulate the Veeam ports, so maybe this is a way.
Backup through a VPN is working, but we can't let the tunnel active as the B&R is used to backup other infrastructure.

Re: Backup using different https port
But if the standalone host is added with the 448 port (NATed to the 443), the local backup proxy will try to access with the wrong port. Any suggestion/best practise?

Re: Backup using different https port
No, as even if we connect to it with correct port, we will receive from the host addidtional URL infromation to services that we use and they include the port defined on the host. So as long as you can not change the port in general on the host there is no such way that I am aware of.
