I have a VM running on ESXi 4.1 with PASSTROUGH enabled on the host so a dongle could be attached locally and assigned to the vm, now i am not able to make a snapshot anymore within the veaambackup.
Can't do a snapshot within vcenter also.
Is there a way to still backup this vm with Veeam?
Thanks in advance

Re: backup vm with usb passthrough enabled
The limits come from VMware DirectPath features, you cannot take snapshots while usb is connected. A workaround could be to use remote usb converter like Anywhere USB from Digi.

Re: backup vm with usb passthrough enabled
I used the add usbcontroller -> usbdevice directly to the vm, this way i can vmotion and do backups.
The passthroughoption was not working anymore in esxi5.1, so i had to switch to the other method of usb presenting.
Thanks for your info dellock6
