Backups of MS DFS 2012 freezing when removing snapshot
Hi.
As the subject says, I have 3 sites where there are 3 MS Server 2012 DFS Servers at each. All 3 veeam sites seem to struggle backing up a Server 2012 DFS, the server will back up and then it will remain at the removing VM Snapshot within Veeam. The Removing VM Snapshot has now been running for 121 hours. The only way I can cancel the job is to restart the Veeam Server. Any Suggestions?
Currently using Version 6.5.0.128 (64 bit) on a Windows Server 2008 R2.

Hello Neil,
Do you observe the same behavior when creating and then committing the snapshot via vSphere Client manually? Do you use application-aware-image processing for these VMs?
Thank you!

Re: Backups of MS DFS 2012 freezing when removing snapshot
Hi.
They are part of a Application Aware job. I have just created a snapshot and removed it manually fine.
I have just noticed however, the job that is still running at 121 hours still has the snapshot on the VM so I have just removed it in vcenter, but the job is still trying to continue to run. The only was I can cancel this now is to restart Veeam server.
Thanks for quick response, any more suggestions?

Hi.
Can you test a Veeam backup WITHOUT using application aware, for testing and diagnostics.
If so, results please?

Have you checked event viewer on the VM?
Please also try to backup the VM using Windows server backup, over the network or to a directly attached VMDK for that purpose,
the purpose of this test is to check if VSS is functioning correctly inside the VM.

As to the manual snapshot, did you keep it long enough prior to deleting it, similar to the time it takes to backup the VM? Thanks.
