Greetings!
I'm looking for some advice. We purchased a Cisco UCS C series server for Veeam B&R to act as the backup server and datastore. The question is whether or not to join the Cisco server to UCS Manager (Cisco Fabric) or allow it to be a standalone server. The Server in standalone mode would be over a 40GB uplink one hop from the Fabric Interconnect.
The way I see it is there's pro's and cons to both configurations.
Pro's to Standalone:
Not reliant on fabric for a recovery scenario
Firmware is not subject to interoperability requirements with fabric
Pro's to UCSM:
Ease of Management on UCSM
Shared switch with production server stack
Thoughts?

Re: Backups Server Location
Hi Alex,
I think you've already done the most complicated part of work by defining pros of both approaches, the remaining task would be to understand which pros are more important for you.
Please keep in mind that you always have a possibility to easily restore Veeam configuration on another server.
If you have no spare server on which you can restore Veeam database in case of disaster, standalone server approach would be better as it allows you to avoid a single point of failure.
Thanks!
