Best backup choise

Post by M4Biz »

Ni.
I'm newbie to Veeam Backup and replication.
I'd like to backup a Windows Server 2019 DC VMWare VM (hosted by ESXi server).
The DC need to be backuped at most one time at month because user accounts, computers, GPOs, etc ... change very slowly in the time.
As the DC manage a few number of users and computer, nothing change for months.
The DC VM has a size of 90 GB.
All that backups will be stored in a netwotk repository of about 2 GB.
I need to mantain only the last two ot three most recent backups.
The oldest can be deleted.
I'm very confused on wich is the best choise in this case.
May you help me?
Thanks in advance.

Just create a backup job with a 3 restore points retention and a monthly schedule. I'm not sure regarding the repository size though - unless it is a typo, you will not be able to fit a 90GB VM backup in a 2GB repo. Thanks!

Also consider checking out Veeam's Quick Start Guide for VMware backups. That is a much shorter version of a full product documentation and covers essential basics of the product capabilities, including base scenarios to protect and restore VMs.
/Cheers!

Hi foggy.
Thanks for your reply.
Obviously is a typo, repository is 2 TB.
