Hello,
I have host with single VM.
Can backup proxy be placed on the same VM that I am backing up?
Or I should definitely create a separate VM for backup proxy role?

Re: Can backup proxy be placed on the same VM that I am backing up?
There are some restrictions for backing up the backup proxy in general, especially if it's to backup itself. From experience, don't try to double-up proxies with other application servers your using.
In v10, you can do Linux proxies, so really, just spin up some debian or ubuntu machine to use hotadd backups. It will save you many headaches with a small footprint. A dedicated proxy is best.

A proxy cannot hotadd itself, so the VM with the proxy role will be backed up via nbd mode. But this shouldn't be a concern in an environment of that size. You can use the default proxy as well - the one that is installed as a part of Veeam B&R installation. Thanks!
