Hello, when we have active CDP polices, what is the best practice for rebooting 1. the source VMs and 2. the hosts? Is it best to disable a CDP policy in either (or both) cases?
I was thinking in terms of routine mainenance for the VMs, such as installing Windows updates, etc.
For the hosts, same thing, where we might reboot a host if a patch is applied.

Re: CDP and VM or host reboots
Hello,
the best practice is "do nothing" of the things of the things you mention. That would make the product hard to use in larger scale
For an ESXi host reboot: VMware maintenance mode should be used. But that's a general VMware best-practice to allow smooth evacuation of the VMs.
Best regards,
Hannes
