Dear all,
We are finally deployed CDP for one of our Customers, I want to know the exact different between Replication and CDP.
Replication to my understanding been doing the same as CDP but just wanna convince the boss to deploy it across the datacenter.
we have like 28 VM servers running and want to have this protected against failure.
also I was curious if possible to create a seperate VLAN for CDP so I won't flush the exiting network when the CDP is doing it job.
Thank you

Re: CDP Deployment Question
Hello,
replication is VMware snapshot based while CDP is based on the VAIO framework https://core.vmware.com/resource/vmware ... ering-vaio (no snapshots)
Of course you can use a separate VLAN. Actually we recommend using a dedicated physical infrastructure. https://www.veeam.com/wp-top-10-best-pr ... ckups.html chapter 4
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: CDP Deployment Question
I will also repost my answer from a different thread, might clarify your confusion:
Thanks!CDP should only be used for protecting VMs running mission-critical applications for which data loss of 15 minutes or more cannot be tolerated. Snapshot-based replication cannot guarantee RPO in seconds.
You can check the corresponding section of User Guide to get familiar with the technology and its capabilities.
