CDP Long Term Retention
Why is there no option to disable this? I have no desire for long term restore points on a replication policy, that is why I do backups.

Re: CDP Long Term Retention
We need to have a least one delta disk (long-term restore point) to replay the logs on during failover operation. So the absolute minimum value (that you can set up for long-term retention in UI) is 1. Thanks!

Re: CDP Long Term Retention
Makes sense. I am coming from years of Zerto for CDP type replication so I am still trying to understand the differences.
Does creating more or less long-term restore points have any affect on performance? We seem to have issues with the long term point creation and deletion in our CDP jobs. Frequently on our bigger, higher change rate CDP policy VM's it will sometimes fail to create these long term point resulting in "Incomplete" point. Also these same VM's have dozens of "failed to remove" messages when trying to roll up points but usually it will succeed eventually.

Re: CDP Long Term Retention
Can you create a ticket with our support team and provide its number here? I will ask QA team to check the case and see what might be the root cause of the experienced behaviour. Thanks!

Re: CDP Long Term Retention
We had a ticket but my colleague closed it thinking the issue was resolved because it seemed to run fine for a few days. We have asked to reopen it but I don't know if that is possible. The number is 04899213. I will open a new one if this cannot be reopened.

Re: CDP Long Term Retention
The provided ticket does contain required logs - there were issues with log upload, as far as I can see. So kindly collect fresh logs and attach to the case. Thanks!

Re: CDP Long Term Retention
May be we are missing something, but the provided log does not contain logs from CDP policy, hosts, clusters, vCenter server, etc. Thanks!

Yeah, we have seen this case as well, as it refences the previous ticket. The provided case also does not contain requested information:
Thanks!veremin wrote:logs CDP policy, hosts, clusters, vCenter server, etc.
