change configuration backup encryption password
Salutations,
I have a question regarding the configuration backup encryption password.
A customer of mine has lost his password and would like to change it with a new password.
If I change the password the only inconvenience is that I will no longer be able to open the old conguration backups?Correct?
Thanks
Greetings

Re: change configuration backup encryption password
Hi Simone
Yes, You will not be able to open the old configuration backups. But I assume you won't need them. Create a new one after you have added a new encryption password.
Are the backups also encrypted? Or is only the configuration backups encrypted with this password?
Does your customer has installed an enterprise manager with enabled password loss protection? This feature can be used to get access to encrypted backups when you lost the encryption key.

Thanks for your answer.
My customer doesn't use enterprise manager and doesn't have encrypted backups.

In this case you are right - the only drawback is that you won't be able to restore backup server configuration from previous restore points. Thanks!

Re: change configuration backup encryption password
You are welcome, it might be worth following the Fabian's advice, installing Enterprise Manager and enabling password loss protection option in order to prevent the situation from happening again. Thanks!
