Hello, I've got a job backing up about 20 VMs, two of the larger ones are giving me this error. The backup works but it takes about 8 hours for each VM.
Now the problem seems obvious, except (drum roll) there are no snap shots on these VMs.
I'm using vsphere 5.1, veeam is v7 (although I only upgraded from 6.5 yesterday and this problem has been happening for a while) One VM is windows 2000, the other 2003
any clues?

Hello,
Can you please browse the home folder of these VMs via Datastore browser to check if there are orphaned snapshot files left by any chance?
Thank you!

Did you try making a snapshot by hand and deleting them all?
