Communication between ESXI and backup repository.

I am planning on putting my backup repository on an isolated network.
Do the ESXi hosts need to be granted access to the repository or granting access to the proxy, is enough?

Hi,

Backups and replicas will work just fine as there is no requirement for repository to have direct conenction with ESXi. However, vPower NFS requires connection with ESXi for Instant recovery and SureBackup to function.
