Configuration restore - Access is denied

Post by Powderham »

Good Morning,

My customer's physical veeam server failed, we supplied a new physical server having installed windows 2019 and VB&R 11a.
The customer has access to the configuration backup file but when I try to open it I get a window saying "Access is denied".

Support Case 05561842 - P2 - no sensible reply after 15 hours

Any ideas anyone?

Hi Richard

Thanks for the case number.
Can you tell me, why you double click on the configuration backup file?
Normally, you have to use the configuration database restore wizard:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110

You can also copy the configuration backup file to the local disk of the VBR server. Could be an issue with the location (SMB?) you are trying to restore from.

Thanks

Hello Fabian,

Thanks for your reply.
I have performed many Veeam server migrations so I know the process.
But the first time I need to do it in a hurry because the old Veeam server has failed, I am having this issue.
The first thing I tried was the normal thing of pressing "Restore" button on the configuration backup window. That said "Access is denied".

Please can you help me?

Hi Richard

You're welcome.
I don't know the answer to this question, so logs needs to be analyzed.
As the next step, I recommend escalating to a manager.

What happens if you start the restore wizard directly in the explorer? Can you open this application with right click "run as administrator"?
"C:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup and Replication\Backup\Veeam.Backup.Configuration.Restore.exe"

Thanks
