Copy Job Restore Point Q: Is there a way to force a copy of all relevant restore points?
I have a copy job with retention set to 3 days. If I were to manually delete the backups in this repo, is there a way to force Veeam B&R to copy all relevant backups from on-prem so I will have my 3 days retention immediately and not have to wait 3 days?
It seems that whether I choose "process all existing restore points" or "latest available restore points", only a single full copy is created on the target repo (similar to an active full).
Thank you!

Hi BackItUp2020,
Backup Copy jobs by design work with the most recent restore points after the job creation: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
So with an existing job, it's not possible to change this, but with a new job, you can use the following registry value to force it to mirror the entire source chain before continuing on to work as described above.
Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication
Name: BackupCopyMirrorAll
Type: Multi-string value (REG_MULTI_SZ)
Data: Backup Copy job names you want to behave this way.
This must be set before the new Backup Copy job runs with the new Backup Copy Job name. Please note that this will process all backups in the source backup, so it may not quite fit for your needs, but give it a shot.
Thanks!

Very cool, thank you! To clarify, if I have a retention policy of 30 days on site but 3 days for the copy job, and I set this registry key, it will copy that entire 30 days initially?

Correct. However, keep in mind that retention applies to the chain, so each restore point in the source backup set will be copied and have a corresponding restore point in the backup copy's backup set, and retention will be applied as is set in the Backup Copy job.

Okay, that makes sense. That would take a long time to process in my case so it may be a toss up in terms of time. Great to have that option though!
