Credentials for storage unit was not found

Post by pepee »

Hi guys,
I have a very serious problem that I can not solve. All backups sporadically fail (even single VMs in a job) on a DD Boost DFC backup repository with the following error:
Error: Credentials for storage unit Veeam-SU1-DFC on storage DFC-ddxxx was not found.

Code: Select all

Simultaneously, the following error appears in the Windows Event Viewer:
Log Name: Application
Source: Application Error
Date: 05/04/2018 16:16:20
Event ID: 1000
Task Category: (100)
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Description:
Faulting application name: VeeamDeploymentSvc.exe, version: 9.5.0.1536, time stamp: 0x5a31fa33
Faulting module name: libDDBoost.dll, version: 3.1.0.1, time stamp: 0x55309e5b
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000d89cd
Faulting process id: 0x2ea8
Faulting application start time: 0x01d3cce86ff2b8f2
Faulting application path: C:\Windows\Veeam\Backup and Replication\VeeamDeploymentSvc.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Veeam\Backup Transport\x86\ddboost\libDDBoost.dll
Report Id: e9151ece-38db-11e8-80e0-001b2197322d
When the known error occurs, the Veeam Installer Service turns off.

These are the workarounds that I have also applied through the Veeam Support - Case # 02659087:
- Upgrade DD OS Version from 5.7 to 6.0 (I still can not update to the last 6.1 because I have other systems that do not fall into the combatability matrix. I have an update plan that I will complete within the next 10 days.)
- I've created new storage units with new credentials.
- I applied a private fix that gave me Veeam support.
- I've created new backup chains, new jobs, cloned jobs, etc.
- I have a second twin Data Domain on which I write Backup Copy but with the same problem.
- Several restarts and server backup / server gateway services.
- IP storage units also fail.

Here is the scenario:
- A single physical server backup with all Veeam components (192 GB RAM, 2 socket/12 cores, Windows Server 2012 R2 full patched)
- Proxy with Direct SAN Access
- Data Domain Integration with DFC
- Veeam Backup & Replication v9.5 U3

One thing is certain, these anomalies have started since I updated to Update 3.
Please help me, I'm in serious trouble.

Thanks so much!

Best would be to handle this via your support ticket as not every setup and config is the same.
