Data Domain and GFS configuration

We have configured all our backups to use GFS weekly and monthly full. Synthetic weekly, active full monthly

This is based on a Dell document Veeam Backup & Replication with PowerProtect DataDomain https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-u ... datadomain and specifically section

7 b. Job Storage Settings –
When using CIFS protocol, create Active Fulls every 7 or 14 days. When using DDBoost, create Synthetic Fulls weekly and Active Fulls monthly.

We are using DDBoost

Is this something that others are doing? Is it best practice as far as Veeam are concerned?

Yes, we're using weekly synthetic fulls as per the Veeam docs, otherwise, we tended to run into issues with capacity.
