Datastore on ESXI running out of space during backup

Hello Community,
I have a problem under ESXI regarding a datastore. Veeam Backup & Replication causes the datastore of the ESXI to run out of space since the snapshot is getting bigger than the available space on the datastore.

My question: if I shutdown the server and make a backup when offline, is there also created a snapshot? I would assume, that’s not necessary, but I could not find any information on that.

Snapshot is created regardless of VM power state. Thanks.

It's still created, but it shouldn't really grow after creation like it would if the VM was running so it might solve your problem
