I need to delete the most recent incremental file. The backup job is set to incremental with enable synthetic full and Transform checked.
If I delete the most recent backup file will the job still run fine or just fail since it's missing that recent incremental.
Maybe there's a better way of deleting that recent incremental?

Re: Delete backup files
Paul, do you mean the oldest increment in the chain or the latest one? May I ask you for the reasons why do you need to delete it?

Re: Delete backup files
The latest file. Basically an email was accidentally sent to one of our users yesterday and today is when we were notified we had to scrub the tape and any backup file it would be on.

Re: Delete backup files
You might want to ask support team for assistance. They should help you to delete the latest incremental file and reflect corresponding changes in .vbm file, so that, nothing is broken. Thanks.

Re: Delete backup files
Yep, since just deleting the file manually will result in job failure. An easier way would be to run an active full against the VM without the said e-mail and drop the entire previous chain (if acceptable).
